Decade Night

Dude had a decade night at his school a few weeks ago. I knew that there would be games, karaoke, dancing, and food. I didn't read the flyer close enough to realize that he was supposed to dress up. He came to me an hour before it started and asked me if I had any 80's clothes. I laughed and told him that if I did, they wouldn't be his size. We scrounged around and found this flannel shirt and I told him that everyone wore plaid flannel in the 90's. We spiked up his hair and voila! There you go, from 2011 to 1998 in 30 minutes. Ha!

Mother's Day

Doctor was out of town for the 6 weeks prior to Mother's Day but he made up for it by going out of his way to make it the best. The kids were super sweet, too!
It started during the week before when I received chocolates and roses!
Then Doctor got back into town at 3:30 Sunday morning. He slept for a few hours and then we were woken up by the girls who brought me breakfast in bed. They got me a bowl of cheerios, a bagel with cream cheese, and orange juice. Then Dude started hollering for Dad. Doctor was crazy exhausted so I got up to see what was going on. Dude had decided to fry an egg for me. He had gotten out our pancake griddle and cracked the egg on it. The problem? He didn't know how to get the egg off the griddle and was trying to use his fingers. Ouch! After teaching him how to use a spatula, I was treated to a fried egg.
I was asked to speak in church that day and was blessed to be able to talk about the wonderful mothers in my ancestry and their amazing examples. The best part? My sweet husband sat with the kids while I enjoyed sacrament meeting from the stand. :)
After church I was treated to a delicious roast dinner. Thanks for being so sweet guys, and for making me feel so loved!

So Sweet!

In the middle of General Conference sessions last April I found a some signs around the house. Thanks Dude for this reminder, you are awesome!
Dude had his 3rd grade music program a few weeks ago. He was asked to be one of the "soloists" for two of the songs. Those who were asked to sing solos stood at a microphone at the front of the stage. Sorry for the videography, I had an almost 3 year old helping out. Great job, Dude!

Spring Soccer

Honey Bunch played soccer again this season. She was great! We often had to remind her that is was great to go for the ball, but don't elbow people to get it. She was a little aggressive. :) She made several goals and several friends as well. I'm learning a lesson about allowing my other kids to be the photographers, though. These are the best pics we got of HB in action.

Kid Comedy

Princess had a fun Easter assignment at school to change regular "ex" words into fun "egg" words. You'll have to click on the picture to zoom in. The left side of each box is the "regular" word and the right side is "egg" version. Can we say creative?!

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

Dude participated in an after school drama program at his school this spring. He had a great time and rumor from the teacher is that he is very talented. The final play was a scene from the book "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing." Dude played the main characters father. He used my eyeliner to create a beard. Princess was the photographer and I didn't notice we didn't get any pics of his facial hair. Here is a picture of a scene with Dude and his "son." He did a great job!

Yee-Haw cowgirl!

Princess had her 1st grade music program. She was the most adorable cowgirl there. I was a cute show, and unfortunately this is the only picture that wasn't too dark to make her out. She was such a good sport even though she didn't get a special part, and she REALLY wanted one. She sang her heart out and was my favorite cowgirl by far.(She is wearing the pink hat)

Who am I?

A few months ago, we bought a new KitchenAid mixer. Then something crazy happened. I started making bread! Who am I?!?!?! It is so good and Princess absolutely loves it. In fact, on St. Patrick's day we ran out of homemade bread and I had to make her lunch with store bought bread. She came home and told me the crazy leprechaun changed her good homemade bread to plain old store bought bread. :)

Pinewood Derby - update

Okay, Okay, I know it has been forever since I have posted on this blog. I have been CRAZY busy, and I am bound and determined to catch up. So, hang on to your hats, I'm going to try and sum up the last two busy months.
The pinewood derby was much more fun to get ready for than to actually compete in. Dude had (in my opinion) the best looking car, unfortunately it was the one of the slowest. The good news is that Doctor is pretty sure he knows what went wrong and we have many more pinewood derbys in the future.
