Twelve years ago, Doctor was living with 8 other guys in a small house on the BSU campus. While shopping for a birthday cake for one of his roommates, Shawn, he met me. Shawn played the piano for me several times, so when I was invited by Doctor and his roommates to the birthday party I was happy to go. The rest, as they say, is history. Nine years ago, Shawn and his 5 month old daughter were killed by a drunk driver. Please watch this amazing video of his wife sharing her journey to forgiveness. Truly amazing.

Kid Comedy
Princess was snuggling with me the other day and she told me that I was the most beautiful mom ever. (Awwwwww!) Then she said, "There is a scripture about that, I think. Something about a virtuous woman being more priceless than rubies." To which, Megaman, who was nearby said, "Mom does NOT have a price. And the price is right!"

Kid Comedy - Mom Edition
So I LOVE LOVE LOVE music. I always have. Unfortunately I am not that great with lyrics. Today I was driving around and a song that I have liked since childhood came on and I started singing along. "Strum on the G string la la la Strum on the G string la la la .....G string sounding louder" Then I glanced at the car radio and it said "Cat Stevens Peace Train" What? Turns out the lyrics are "Ride on the Peace Train...Peace Train sounding louder." So it got me thinking about other lyrics I have messed up.
My version: Too many hearts have been broken, failing to trust the Navy
Realversion: Too many hearts have been broken, failing to trust what they feel (Dan Folgleberg)
My version: Everybody plays the flute, sometimes
Real version: Everybody plays the fool sometimes (Aaron Neville)
My version: Going through the Big D and don't mean Diamonds
Real version: Going through the Big D and don't mean Dallas
My version: Fresh Paint, Fresh Bamboo, somethin's going on in Nora's room
Real version: Crash bang, crash bang boom! somethin's going on in Nora's room
This one is actually Princess' misheard lyrics
Her version: There's a hole in my yard that can only be filled by you
Real version: There's a hole in my heart that can only be filled by you (Extreme)
There are many more, but here is my favorite, and it is actually Doctor's mistake.
His version: I won't poke my eyes out and surrender
Real version: I won't put my arms up and surrender

Busy Busy
We have been super busy! Dude is doing basketball, newspaper club, and scouts. Princess is doing violin lessons and activity days. Honey Bunch is doing tumbling and science club. Megaman is doing tumbling. And we have all the extra stuff, too, like birthday parties, play dates, dentist and doctor appointments, and school mixed in there somewhere. Anyways, I had a little time to catch my breath today so prepare for a blog overload!
Kid Comedy
Lately, when Megaman can't find something, he says that it "just appeared" instead of disappeared.
The other day when he came down for breakfast, MM shouted, "GIVE ME SOME BREAKFAST!" I told him he needed to ask politely. So, he shouted just as demanding, "MAY YOU PLEASE GIVE ME SOME BREAKFAST!"

What?
The Monday before Christmas break, Dude told me that his grade would be participating in a quiz bowl on Tuesday and that he was really excited for it. When I picked him on Tuesday I asked him how it went. He got big tears in his eyes and told me that he didn't do very well. He told me that he didn't know any of the answers and that he felt stupid. The other 5 kids on his team were mad at him because he did so poorly. I asked him he he did his best and he replied that he did, but that he felt so stupid. (again with big tears in his eyes) I told him that if he did his best, than I was proud of him. Later that day I was driving some of his friends home from a church activity when one of the friends said, "That was so cool, Dude how your team won today because you knew all the answers!" Dude then said, "No we didn't, we didn't make it past the semi-finals. I didn't know any answers." His friend replied. "Yeah you did, you won the trophy!" Again Dude denied it. I turned around and asked him if he won. He burst out laughing and said he did. When I asked him why he lied about it he said, "Mom, you would have gotten really excited and embarrassed me." Turns out he knew that a certain artist did sculptures, the 2 representatives from each state are called Senators, and a bunch of other stuff, surprising everyone with his knowledge. Have you ever heard of a kid lying about doing well? And so convincingly, too?
Another Awesome Project
It's Birthday Time!

Honey Bunch is 6! Crazy! She is such a spunk and is so fun. We had a Hawaiian themed party. We played limbo, broke a sunshine pinata, ate cupcakes and had a dance contest. Princess made the cutest "pin the coconut on the palm tree" game also.
Oh, and she drew this hula dancer as well. So creative.
On her birthday, she chose to go to Colton's Steakhouse because they ring bells and shout when it's your birthday. She LOVES attention, must be a 3rd child.
Anyways....happy birthday Honey Bunch, we love you!
Date Night!
Fun on a Saturday
A little while ago, I bought a Pop Bottle Science Kit. It includes over 70 science experiments you can do using a two liter bottle. So fun!!! A couple of Saturdays ago, we made quick sand, learned why ice floats, made rain, and made a paper fish "swim" in water. What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Love this outift!
Scarves
What do your kids do in their spare time?
Mine do research papers and make posters. At least Princess and Dude do. Princess was bored on a Saturday so she made a poster and typed a research paper about Elephants. She color coded the poster to demonstrate the difference between fact and opinion.

Dude also made a poster about Reptiles. I didn't get a picture of it, but it was awesome as well.

Christmas
It wouldn't be February if I didn't post about Christmas, right? We had a wonderful one. On Christmas Eve Doctor humored me by letting us go caroling at a nursing home. We brought jingle bells and sang to the residents. So fun. After that, we decorated cookies for Santa.
Then we came home and made our traditional homemade pizzas. So yummy!
After that we reenacted the Christmas story and sang Christmas carols. Christmas morning we got up and saw what Santa brought then headed to church. It was a beautiful meeting. Then we came home and opened presents. We are all super spoiled, thanks to everyone. This is the first year that Dude used his money to buy us a present. He bought it at the school craft fair. It's an open vase with mistletoe in it. Thanks Dude!
