Kid Comedy - Family Edition

When Princess was telling our family about her field trip, she told us about a cabinet filled with "old-fashioned fire distinguishers."

The other day we had an unexpected visitor in our attic.  A BAT!!!!  Doctor chased it away and Dude was on the hunt to find it.  He was looking out the window and shouted that he found it hanging under the slide on the swingset.  We all gathered around and stared at it for awhile.  I decided to take a picture so that Honey Bunch, who is learning about bats in school, could show her class.  I bravely walked out.  As a got closer I realized the "bat" was really a piece of jump rope that was hanging under the slide!

I gave Honey Bunch a haircut the other day.  It turned out super cute, I need to take a picture to put on here!  Anyway, Doctor was out of town so I bobby pinned Honey Bunch's hair to my head and texted a picture to him with the caption, "I cut bangs!".  Sweet husband texted back, "looks cute!"  Either he is blind or a sweet liar!

Megaman and I went to story time at the library and they made the adorable masks.  Isn't he the cutest little bunny?

I Love To See The Temple!

We had the amazing opportunity to go to the open house for a new temple built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  It is a beautiful building!  There is such peace and serenity in the temple.  I'm so grateful for the sealing power that can unite families for eternity.  I hope this was the first of many times my little family is in the temple together.  We forgot the camera so these were taken with our phone.  Not the best pics, but you get the idea. :)

Field Trip!

I was able to go with Princess on her community field trip this week. It was so fun to spend time with her! We went to the Herpetology lab at the local university, the fire station and the library. Thanks Princess for letting me go with you!

Dude's new gig

Doctor taught Dude how to mow the lawn last weekend. He has been begging us for a while to be able to do it.  He did a fine job.

Pinewood Derby 2012

Dude had his Pinewood Derby a couple weeks ago. Poor Doctor is crazy busy right now, so I was worried that I would have to conquer the tools and help Dude. Thankfully Doctor was able to find time to do it! Dude designed the car shape and colors and helped carve and sand it. It is so awesome looking! He won 3rd place for his den. Great job, guys!

Kid Comedy

The other day we had BBQ'd hamburgers and hotdogs. Doctor came in and put a hotdog on Megaman's plate. When he set it down, Megaman shouted, "Order up!"

I bought the movie "The Pirate's That Don't Do Anything" the other day. Megaman said, "Oh good, cause those pirates who do everything? I was getting sick of those!"

It's Flower Planting Time!

On Thursday we planted over 800 flowers in our front and back flower gardens. The kids were planting machines. All four worked so hard! We are so proud of them! It started raining about 15 mins before we were done. They were troopers and kept right on planting. At one point, Princess said, "This is SO fun!! We are going to remember this forever!" I don't have any after pics, I will try and get some on here next week.

Easter

We had a very nice, quiet Easter. Doctor took the three younger kids to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt the night of Dude's party and they each came home with 30 candy filled eggs! Crazy sugar!!!

On Sunday morning, Dude surprised me with breakfast in bed. He made pancakes for us all. So nice!
After breakfast, we read the Easter story from the Bible, then watched some videos of the Easter story that were recently made and released by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They are incredible videos. You can watch them at www.lds.org

After getting dressed, we headed to church. Honey Bunch and I sang in the choir. She did a fantastic job, I am so proud of her. All the kids sang with the Primary children, also. They were adorable, and I am officially old with all my kids in Primary now.

Here's our beautiful/handsome kids!

I Have Been a Mom for a DECADE!!!!

Dude turned 10 in March. I tried to tell him that I was vetoing this birthday because I am not old enough to have a ten year old. He didn't buy it, so we went ahead with the celebration. He actually had 3 celebrations this year. Doctor had to go to Chicago the week of his birthday, so we celebrated his birthday as a family early. We went out to dinner and Dude looks like he didn't enjoy the bell ringing, shouting, and ice cream, but he did.
We came home and opened presents. Thanks to everyone! You guys are all great!!! He got an ipod from us, but not before Doctor game him a yellow pad that had "Dude's ipad" written on it.

The day of his actual birthday we went to Mexican (his choice). He was so sad about Doctor not being there, that he couldn't eat. It was super sad. I had him stay home from school that day too, because he was so sad. It was heartbreaking.

Last week we had his friend party. We had pizza, played four square and flag football and video games. It was a great time.

Happy Birthday, Dude, I love you so much!!! You rock!!!

Nanny McPhee

Losing teeth is a petrifying experience for Princess. She holds on to her baby teeth until they fall out on their own. One of her top front teeth was hanging on by a thread and she had great fun turning herself into Nanny McPhee.

Her tooth finally came out, here's the after pic:

Let's Go Fly A Kite

The other day, the kids and I flew kites in the backyard. It was so fun. Megaman picked the best kite because it was inflated and flew super easily.

Spring Break

It's that time again! Time for another blog overload full of updates.

Our spring break was the first week in March. We had planned to have a fun vacation at the Great Wolf Lodge. Unfortunately everything was stacked against us. Princess came home from school the Friday before the break with a fever of 104 degrees and a nasty cough. That night her fever spiked to 105 before coming back down. She recovered so we were set to go. Then a couple days later, Honey Bunch had the 104 degree fever with a nasty cough. The flu bug was just starting to reek havoc on our family. Since Princess recovered so quickly, we decided we would be ok to go. We headed down and stopped at our lot to run around. I wish we had brought our camera because the kids had a kodak moment running through the wheat fields. Oh well. We got to the Lodge in time to get in an hour of swimming before heading to bed. The next morning we went to ihop for breakfast and headed to wal-mart (it wouldn't be a day if we didn't go to wal-mart!) to buy things to have for lunch later in the day. Then we headed back to swim. We had been there for about 45 mins when Honey Bunch fell and cut her chin requiring 20 stitches. So, the vacation was cut short. On the ride back home, I started to get a fever. Yep, I had the flu. Then late that night, Dude and Megaman found themselves fevered as well. Doctor didn't get it until 3 days later. It was a break to remember, that's for sure!

On a positive note, we had a couple fun surprises. We decided to go to Applebee's for dinner and found out when we walked in that we were there on a kid's eat free day! Then at ihop the next morning, we found out that kids eat free there as well if you are a guest at the lodge! Pretty cool!
