Kid Comedy - kind of....

Honey Bunch has had a "loose tooth" for over 2 years now.  Really it was just wishful thinking on her part, so when we went to the dentist in September and he said that she really did have a "barely loose" tooth we were so happy for her! She got right to work wiggling and wiggling.  She got it to the point yesterday morning that it would have fallen out with the slightest touch.  Then she refused to touch it.  Why? Because she had to make sure that it fell out at school for everyone to see.  She waited until her class was all gathered together at carpet time and then popped it out.  She loves attention, silly girl!  She got a tooth necklace from the nurse and she is one happy chica!

Dude was playing with some friends in the neighborhood on Friday afternoon.  I was playing with Megaman in the basement when I heard Dude come in and holler for me.  When I told him where I was he said, very calmly, as he came down the stairs, "Mom, before you see me, I just have to tell you it was an accident.  He didn't mean to throw it at me."  Oh boy.  Then I see this.

He was ok, heads bleed a lot, but I find it hilarious that he was so concerned not with his head, but in making sure that I knew it was an accident! Oh, and I took the picture to text his Dad, I wasn't saying, "Hey, here is a kodak moment, hold that thought while I get the camera!" ;-)

Halloween 2012

The week before and the week after Halloween we all took turns being sick. I was the unfortunate victim on Halloween. Doctor was so great and took the kids to the trunk-or-treat at the church by himself, and he took them trick-or-treating around the neighborhood while I slept. He was so kind and sweet. We had an angry bird, vampire(ess), pretty witch, and a knight.

We had a our traditional "carving of the pumpkins" family home evening the Monday before Halloween. The kids draw on paper what they want, gut the pumpkins out, and then the surgeon gets to work.

Dude has earned his Webelos!

Dude worked hard this summer and earned his Webelos in cub scouts.  He received his award this last pack meeting.  Good job, Dude!

Grandparents Day

The girls had Grandparents Day at their school a couple of weeks ago. Since all of our grandparents live so far a way, I was a pretend grandma for the day.
In Princess' classroom, we did a crossword puzzle and she interviewed me.  Her friend's grandma couldn't make it, so I was her pretend grandma, too.
In Honey Bunch's classroom, we did a craft, sang songs and looked around the classroom.
This is what she will look like when she is a grandma.
And what she will do....

Pumpkin Patch Fun

I went with Megaman on his field trip to a Pumpkin Patch, and we had a great time.  We went on a hayride, a cow barrel ride, jumped in a bounce house, jumped in haystack, walked a little maze, and lots of other fun things.  We had such a good time, I took the other kids another day.  They even did a zip-line.  Dude did the adult one, and the other three did the kid one.  Here are some pictures of our fun time.

And a video of Dude's zip-line

Princess is 9!!!

Princess turned 9 a few weeks ago. We asked her if she would rather have a party with friends, or spend the day at the closest mall (an hour away) with me. She chose the mall, so away we went. She was adorable all day. She shops like her dad, though. Extremely picky and slow. We had fun, and she kept saying, "I am in heaven! This is paradise!" Her birthday was on a Wednesday, aka busiest day of the week. We had to do presents in the morning before Doctor and Dude had to leave. Then we went out to eat (birthday girl chose Golden Corral), then Doctor and Princess headed off to a Father/Daughter hoe-down. It was a busy day, but she was one happy girl. Happy birthday, girlie, we love you!

Megaman The Soccer All-Star

Megaman played soccer this fall and he scored 5 goals in his first real game! (Two were for the other team, but hey, they were goals, right?) I wish I had video of it, he was a great player and picked up some tips watching his big sister elbowing people when he plays. ;-)

Our new attraction.....

This is our new friend. He likes to watch the progress of our house with us. The kids love this owl, and we see him often.

Hard at Work

Back in the beginning of October, Doctor decided it would be easier to put in all the electric boxes than telling the electrician where he would like them. So we went to Menard's and bought a box of 100. The clerk said, "Wow, those boxes will last a while!" Well, not really, he and Dude used every last one. Here they are hard at work.

Kid Comedy - Megaman

Yes, we are still alive, but our computer wasn't.  We had it repaired and so now we are back up and running.  We had a SUPER busy October and I will be posting all about it in the coming days.  For now though, a bit of comedy courtesy of Megaman.

I took him with me to vote on Tuesday.  We sat down at the table and he leaned in looked me right in the eye and very seriously whispered, "Make good choices!"  Then he began whispering all the things he thought I should vote for. I was concentrating on the task at hand, so I didn't hear all that he said but I did hear that I should vote that "people who break their lungs should be able to get them fixed by a doctor." Adorable. And yes, Dad, I made good choices :)

Spider Pumpkins

I was flipping through a magazine and saw an idea for spider pumpkins. You get a mini pumpkin, some pipe cleaners and some googly eyes. Voila! Spider pumpkins. Easy, no fail crafts are right up my alley. So I bought the supplies and made one for an example. What happened next is a glimpse into my children's personalities. Here is mine:

Dude followed the example pretty closely, but he needed bigger scarier looking legs.  He also chose to have 6 legs instead of 8.

Megaman tried to follow the example perfectly.  He even chose the same colors for his pipe cleaners that I did.  He did want some extras, though, like hair, a smile, and cheeks because his sisters both had faces on theirs. And the eyes needed to be slanted because that is how his brother did his.

Honey Bunch didn't want to make a spider.  She doesn't like spiders, she likes cats.  So she made some ears and a tail and she drew a cat face complete with whiskers.  (Hard to see in the picture, but they are there.)

Then she made a cardboard robot, and a foam fish.

Princess decided that a spider was much too simple.  She decided to make a witch instead.  She made a foam hat, used yarn to make hair and made a broom.  For the broom she used cardboard and hay.
When she saw me taking pictures, she requested one with broom on the side, and one with the witch riding the broom, so here you go.

House update

The framers finished up the upper level this last week and will start working on the roof tomorrow.  I haven't taken any more pics of the inside, I will hopefully get some this week.  Here is what the front looks like now.

Kid Comedy - Megaman

Megaman and I went to the park for a play date this morning.  Most of the people we have met with kids his age have little girls.  There were about 10 little girls and Megaman.  He kept coming to get me to play with him while I was visiting with the other moms.  I said, "Wouldn't you like to go play with the other kids?" He replied, "There aren't any kids here, just girls!"

Yesterday Dude brought home his science book that he needed for his homework.  It has a picture of a frog on the cover.  Megaman brought it to Dude and they had this conversation:
MM: Dude, will you read this book to me?
              Dude: I can, but it's a textbook.
MM: (with a really sad tone in his voice and his head down) Oh. I don't know how to text anyone.

WE ARE SO PROUD!!!

Dude has been selected as the first student of the week at his new school!  We are so proud of him.  He has gone out of his way to be polite and kind to his teachers, and to make great friends.  WAY TO GO DUDE, YOU ROCK!!!!!

House pics - framing

The main level and basement are mostly framed. Here are some pics I took the other night.
This is the view from the back yard.
 And the front.
This is the hearth room off of the kitchen.
This is the breakfast nook.  I am taking the picture from the kitchen.
This is the staircase of the front entry.  It is a rounded staircase.
This is the best picture I could get of the "rotunda" in our master area.  It's not really a rotunda, I just tease Doctor about the round area that connects the sitting room/bedroom/closet/bathroom.
We got these cool window wells for the egress windows in the basement.

Home Sweet Home

When we went to see the progress on the house yesterday we got a fun surprise.  The boards for the second level had arrived and they had the best stamp on top!  Check it out!

You can take us from Idaho, but you can't keep Idaho out of our house!!!!  It makes this house just that much more sweet!

Megaman's First Day

Megaman had his first day of 4 year old preschool yesterday.  He was so excited that it was finally his turn to start school!  He was kind of shy when we got there and held my hand until the last possible second.  Not gonna lie, I totally love it!
