Lessons Learned From Fathers

I have some amazing fathers in my life. Here are a few lessons I have learned from them.

My husband is incredible!! He has taught me about diligence, perseverance, motivation, love, gratitude, and so much more. He stretches me and forces me, sometimes grudgingly, to go beyond my comfort zone. I have never met a soul who works harder than him. He teaches our children to work hard and efficiently. He teaches them to set goals and then work to achieve them. He is a strong leader and father. I am blessed beyond measure to call myself his wife and to be able to raise our children together.

My Dad is the ultimate Dad. Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad. He's taught me to "think good thoughts, and good things will happen," "not sweat the small stuff and its all small stuff," "be where I'm supposed to be and do what I'm supposed to be doing," and "leave things better than when I found it." What a great dad I have!

My Grandpa S. has taught me about true love. He gave me my first example of how a man should love his wife. He taught me about finding joy in the journey of life and the value of serving your fellow man. I love you grandpa!

My Grandpa B. has taught me about loving people even when you don't have to. He chose to be a grandpa to me when it wasn't required of him. He's another great example of true love and I admire the love he has for his wife and his constant service on her behalf. Thanks for being you!

Happy Father's Day!

Paint, Paint, Paint!

They painted the walls of the house this last week! I can't wait to see how it will look once all the crown molding and window moldings go up. Its getting harder and harder to go back home after visiting the new house/neighborhood.

Kid Comedy

As promised......
Dude - We were driving down the street and there were several little girls walking. They were probably 8 or 9 years old. Dude said, "Hey did you see all those teenyagers in the street?" Sounds so much better than 'pre-teen' I think.

We are having a garage sale this weekend and Dude is planning a lemonade stand. He announced that his lemonade will be $5 a glass. Princess said, "Why don't you give it away for free?" Dude's response? "Because I need to make some serious money!"

Princess - Princess and I were talking about the temple. I asked her if she was going to get married in the temple. She gave me an emphatic no, then told me that her best friend is moving away so there isn't anyone to marry. Then a couple days later she announced that she had a new friend that's a boy. With a twinkle in her eye and a twirl of her hair she said, "He wrestles. And he has a trophy!" I am in big trouble.

Princess loves to watch cooking shows. A while back she watched Paula Deen whip up something fantastic. When the show was over she came in and asked what we were having for dinner. I told her tacos. She then said in a sad voice, "Oh, boring old tacos."

Here's a conversation we had on my birthday:
P: Are you 22?
Me: Oh, honey I wish I were 22.
P: Oh, then you are 21?

Honey Bunch - HB was in the bathroom when she hollered that we were out of toilet paper. When I went in to give her more she said, "Mom, I used the last drop of it."

We were reading books when HB gave me a big bear hug and said, "You are all mine, Mama!"

Megaman - I'll let these pictures speak for themselves. :)

Sorry.....I've been busy!

I can't really remember what all I've been doing, so that must mean that I've been super busy, right? I'm sorry that these pics have taken so long, so stop bugging me. :) Oh, and in answer to questions, the house should be done by the middle of July and we have 3 more years in residency, so we're here for at least that long. (P.S. watch for some kid comedy this week........*sneak peek* "Mom, I found this quarter in the 'awful limits' drawer!")

We have a roof!

The workers finished the roof on Friday night!

These pictures were taken before the roof was finished, but I forgot to take more.

Where has the year gone?

Is Megaman really a year old? The calendar says so, so it must be true. My mom flew in for the festivities, thanks Mom! When we sang to him, he thought we had all lost our marbles. The movie file was too big to include it, but after he took a bite of the cupcake he said. "Yum!" Hilarious.

He LOVES balls, so he got a lot of new ones for his birthday.

Since my mom was in town, Doctor and I took advantage of free babysitting. When we got back, this is what we found. You can't tell in the picture, but he had a ball in each hand.
Happy Birthday Megaman!!!!

A few of my favorite moms........

I have been so blessed by so many amazing mothers! Words cannot express how grateful I am for all of them. Most of all, my mother. I couldn't possibly list all of the sacrifices she has made on my behalf. It is so hard to be so far away from her, thank goodness for unlimited long distance!!! I can't wait until Wednesday! :)

Happy Mother's Day!

I was spoiled this weekend, mostly because Doctor was able to come home for the weekend. Hooray! When I opened my closet to get dressed, I found this beautiful dress hanging in the closet. He bought the necklace, too. What a guy, huh?
Dude started to make this awesome lego creation but only had time for the "happy."

The girls made me cute cards. All in all it was a great day. I hope all women everywhere had a wonderful day as well.

We just need a roof now!

Anyone missing some chocolate?

Megaman found it. This is how I found him after taking a bathroom break.
