Princess' Baptism

Princess was baptized this last weekend. We were so blessed to have all 3 sets of grandparents, two aunts, and my cousin from Chicago come to celebrate with us. We had so much fun with everyone and are tremendously grateful for your sacrifices to be here with us!
There were several little hiccups before, during and after the baptism, but the most important parts (the baptism and confirmation) are what matters. I am so proud of you Princess and your choice to be baptized!

4th Grade Music Program

Dude had his music program last week. It was a Veteran's Day themed program. Dude was a flag waver and did a great job. Grandma and Grandpa "T" and two aunts were there to watch. It was fun to have extended family at one of our kids programs!

Halloween!

Here's some pics from our Halloween fun. We had a Batman, Monarch Butterfly, Dorothy, and an Anakin Skywalker. (No pics of Anakin, though, cause he is way too cool for pics in his costume.)Oh, and notice the bling in Dude's mouth? When did I get old enough to have a kid with braces?

It's Frog Season Again

It's that time again and our house has once again become the neighborhood frog stockpile. The kids love to catch frogs and tadpoles and our house becomes their new home. This year Dude collected about 10 tadpoles and several frogs and documented the growth of the tadpoles in a journal. After a few unfortunate demises, Dude decided to release them back into their natural environment.

Princess' Birthday

It is time once again for my monthly catch-up.

Princess turned 8 on the 10th of October. Craziness! She is such a sweet and helpful girl, and has brought joy to our family. We had a family birthday party this year, and she asked for a homemade chocolate cake with white frosting. I'm not a gourmet cake maker and I love that my kids love my cakes anyway. She was super spoiled by everyone, thanks so much! Happy Birthday Princess!

Kid Comedy

After family prayer last night, Honey Bunch and I had this conversation:

HB: Mom, what's a stay?
Me: I'm not sure what you are asking.
HB: What's a stay?
Me: What do you mean?
HB: When we say our prayers and we say "We're grateful for the stay."
Me: (After trying to stifle my laughter) Oh, sweetie, we say that we are grateful for this day."

I guess our prayers have become recitations. We need to work on that! ;-)

During dinner we were talking about who the kids sit by at school. Honey Bunch shared her list of classmates and mentioned a boy named Abraham. She then said, "Abraham's not much of a talker." Hilarious!

* FYI-Princess had a birthday and I will blog all about it soon....keep a lookout!

Kid Comedy

Megaman and I went outside to have a picnic lunch. We sat down and got the lunch all spread out when we had this funny conversation:
MM: Mom, are you thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?
Me: I'm not sure, what are you thinking?
MM: That I want to be an animal! Like a shark, cause they live in the ocean and eat fish.
Me: Do you like to eat fish?
MM: No!

Megaman didn't sleep well the other night so in the morning I asked him why. He told me that he was scared of the spiky monster in his room. I told him we could get some spiky monster spray and spray it around the house to make sure that they couldn't be in the house. His reply? "Mom, they aren't real." It was like he was saying duh, mom. ;-)

The missionaries came over and were teaching us an object lesson about the Doctrine of Christ. They were using paper that they were gradually folding into a cup, with each fold representing something we need to do, i.e. repent, be baptized, have faith, etc. With each fold they would ask if they could pour the water. After a couple folds the paper was obviously not a cup yet and Dude said, "Don't pour the water! You'll spill on my mom and dad's 1987 vintage carpet!" After a moment of silence, Doctor said, "Not sure how to explain that, so carry on." So random.

Honey Bunch loves to read. Lately she has been adding accents and fun voices when she reads. Here is a cute blurb.

Are You Ready For Some Football!

We decided to go to the local University's Homecoming football game on Saturday. It was fun, but they aren't nearly the caliber of BSU so it was a much slower game. They even have a special cheer for every first down since they don't get that many. Dude and Megaman loved it, but the girls weren't impressed. They kept begging to go so we decided to leave at halftime. We did stay long enough for the half-time show, which the girls did enjoy quite a bit. Hopefully it was the first of many football games we go to as a family!

New Roof

Doctor had a light day at work last Friday, so he was able to put a roof on the playhouse. Great work!

Ready for Halloween?

According to Princess, we weren't. So, she got to work. She made these decorations, and is busy planning more. Her artwork is incredible! She made decorations, then taped them on to homemade posters. They are even more awesome in person!
