Two Tumblers

The girls had their tumbling performance tonight. They both did awesome! I was so proud of them. The pictures during the actual performance are too dark to post, so here are some pre-performance. Good job girls!

What happens when.........

What happens when you have a car that has 118,000 miles, an engine light that has been on for 2 years, bad brakes, bald tires, leaking fluid, and the power steering has gone out? Well, if you are Doctor you drive it till you've driven it into the ground. When my parents recently drove the car they informed Doctor that it "was already in the ground." After much discussion about the amount of travel Doctor does we decided that it was time. Doctor is a screamin' deal maker (I stand in awe!) and he got this Nissan Altima for an amazing deal. We feel incredibly spoiled and blessed. I put a picture of the "key" because it isn't actually a key at all. The ignition is a push button. So fun.

I live with 2 yellow stripes!

Doctor and Dude have both passed their tests for yellow stripes in Tae-Kwon-Do! Since Doctor is out of town, he actually tested about a month ago. Dude's test was this last Thursday. He did awesome! He even broke the board on his first try (a feat only about 4 people in a class of 20 could do)! Doctor broke his board too, but I wasn't able to video it. Congrats guys!

What a decade!

I met Doctor 10 years ago today. It's funny when I think about it because that night he was so shy and his hair was blonde. I can still remember the first time he smiled at me while were standing at the minty moore stew display. I remember laughing to myself at the 10 or so packages of pop-tarts in his cart. It has been a crazy ten years, but I feel so blessed to be his wife. It stinks being apart so much.
I miss you terribly, babe. You are my best friend, thanks for choosing me.

So Sad

So this gelatin allergy thing is horrible. Here's a list of some of the things that poor Dude can't eat:
Jell-o
most yogurts
marshmallows
pop-tarts (who'd a thought!)
skittles
starbursts
twizzlers
fruit snacks
sausage
pre-made gravies
some jams and jellys
lucky charms and frosted mini-wheat cereals
most cake frosting
canned ham
Dude's most favorite food is yogurt. UGH!! Poor kid has been suffering for 8 years. I am so grateful to Vegan people for posting info on foods containing gelatin. I will say that knowing what gelatin actually is makes it easier to give up, though. I'll spare the details so no one will have to stop liking it. :)

Say what?!

Long story short.......Dude is allergic to gelatin. So devastating. We are a jello loving family. You can't call it Sunday dinner unless there is a jello. Poor guy. I had a hunch after he suffered an allergic reaction after eating some fruit snacks on our recent trip over spring break so I mentioned it to Dude's allergist during a routine appointment. He said that a gelatin allergy is extremely rare but suggested having him tested to be sure. The testing was completed today. The doctor said that he has seen only one other gelatin allergy and that was in residency. Crazy. Life without jello is hard to imagine.....

Dude is 8!

Dude turned 8 on the 27th of March and was able to be baptized the same day. It was a very special day. He was blessed to have three grandpa's and two grandma's come as well as two aunts. We are tremendously grateful to them for making the trek out here. There were a million pictures taken of the extended family, but I can't figure out where on the computer they are. :) His two grandma's each gave talks and they were wonderful. Thanks to everyone who came and helped it be such a beautiful experience. I am so proud of you Dude! You are one amazing guy. Here's a pic of the three amigos. I thought that Dude looked so big and grown up in his suit, but in this pic he looks like he's standing with his bodyguards.

Kid Comedy - Princess Edition

Princess has said some pretty funny things lately. Here's a sample.

We were reading a book about Sacajawea. The book said that she was a Princess. My Princess asked if Sacajawea lived in a castle. I said no. She then asked where she lived and I told her that she probably lived in a tee-pee. Princess then asked, "Well, was it a really big tee-pee, then?"

Princess had a friend over and they were getting a snack. Princess got down two cups. One had Princesses on them, and one had spiderman on it. She told her friend that she could choose which cup she wanted because she was the guest. Her friend chose the spiderman cup. Princess was aghast. She said, "Are you sure?! Don't you want the Princess cup?" Her friend replied that she did want the spiderman cup. Princess asked her again and again over the next five minutes if she was sure. Princess was appalled all day. Hilarious.

On St. Patrick's Day a leprechaun turned our milk green. Princess was telling her teacher about it. Her teacher asked her if she was scared to drink green milk. Her reply? "I just told Honey Bunch to drink it first."

Spring Break

Last week was the kids spring break. Timing of spring break was ironic since we still had about six inches of snow on the ground when it started. We took the kids to an indoor water park/hotel that we had gone to when I was pregnant with Megaman. It was so fun! We all had a blast. Honey Bunch was the most adventurous and loved the big slides. Dude liked to jump across logs in the water. He did a pretty good job. Princess loved the hot tub and would have had the perfect trip if she never had to get out. Megaman didn't like the slides, but he loved the water toys.

What we've been up to.....

My blogging has become slow and infrequent, sorry. We have been doing a lot, though.

When I was two, my mom got me a dresser. It was a great five drawer dresser and it served me well. When Doctor and I got married, it became our dresser. When we got a new bedroom set a few years back we handed down the dresser to the girls. Let's just say that they were harder on that dresser than I ever was. It now only has two operating drawers. So, Doctor, bless his heart, found time to build the girls a beautiful dresser. Who does that? Seriously, is he not so awesome? It's too cold to paint now, so this spring it will be painted white. Megaman helped too.
Dude and the Doctor also started Tae-Kwon-Do last month. They are official white belts now and got their uniforms yesterday. I'll post a picture in the near future, hopefully. They are both enjoying it and having fun doing it together. The girls are still in tumbling and it's a love/hate deal for both of them. They have a performance in April that they are excited for.
I've been busy being a mom/wife/taxi driver, etc. Yesterday, Megaman and I got a stomach bug and we were really sick. When Doctor came home, I honestly had no idea what condition the house was in, but I'm sure it was bad. He walked in the door and said, "What happened in here? Seriously, what happened in here!?" Dude, very matter-of-factly said, "Mom's sick." Like, duh, Dad, don't you know mom does everything. :) It was nice to get some recognition. Maybe I should be sick more often.
Also, here's a couple of cute random pictures.
