What?

The Monday before Christmas break, Dude told me that his grade would be participating in a quiz bowl on Tuesday and that he was really excited for it. When I picked him on Tuesday I asked him how it went. He got big tears in his eyes and told me that he didn't do very well. He told me that he didn't know any of the answers and that he felt stupid. The other 5 kids on his team were mad at him because he did so poorly. I asked him he he did his best and he replied that he did, but that he felt so stupid. (again with big tears in his eyes) I told him that if he did his best, than I was proud of him. Later that day I was driving some of his friends home from a church activity when one of the friends said, "That was so cool, Dude how your team won today because you knew all the answers!" Dude then said, "No we didn't, we didn't make it past the semi-finals. I didn't know any answers." His friend replied. "Yeah you did, you won the trophy!" Again Dude denied it. I turned around and asked him if he won. He burst out laughing and said he did. When I asked him why he lied about it he said, "Mom, you would have gotten really excited and embarrassed me." Turns out he knew that a certain artist did sculptures, the 2 representatives from each state are called Senators, and a bunch of other stuff, surprising everyone with his knowledge. Have you ever heard of a kid lying about doing well? And so convincingly, too?

Another Awesome Project

Doctor has done it again! He has created another woodworking masterpiece! He just finished a dresser for the boys, and it is amazing! Good work, doctor.

It's Birthday Time!

Honey Bunch is 6! Crazy! She is such a spunk and is so fun. We had a Hawaiian themed party. We played limbo, broke a sunshine pinata, ate cupcakes and had a dance contest. Princess made the cutest "pin the coconut on the palm tree" game also. Oh, and she drew this hula dancer as well. So creative. On her birthday, she chose to go to Colton's Steakhouse because they ring bells and shout when it's your birthday. She LOVES attention, must be a 3rd child. Anyways....happy birthday Honey Bunch, we love you!

Date Night!

Life is so much sweeter after a fun date night! A couple of weeks ago, we went bowling. The first game was so great! I had to take a picture because it is rare for me to get over 100, and I bowled a 126! The second game I only got a 62, so no pics of that! Thanks, babe, for a fun night!

Fun on a Saturday

A little while ago, I bought a Pop Bottle Science Kit. It includes over 70 science experiments you can do using a two liter bottle. So fun!!! A couple of Saturdays ago, we made quick sand, learned why ice floats, made rain, and made a paper fish "swim" in water. What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Up, Up, Up the Ladder!

Dude earned his Bear in cub scouts in December. Way to go Dude!

Love this outift!

Honey Bunch loves to make statements with her clothes. On this particular day she wanted the world to see her as a flower. She is wearing floral print pants, a floral print skirt, a floral patterned shirt and a sweater with floral accents. She topped it off with a flower head band. Love it!

Scarves

I am not crafty at all, but my friend showed me how to make scarves using t-shirts. They are super cute and super easy. I showed the girls, and they each made one. Well, Princess started hers, but hasn't finished it yet.
Honey Bunch did hers all by herself!

What do your kids do in their spare time?

Mine do research papers and make posters. At least Princess and Dude do. Princess was bored on a Saturday so she made a poster and typed a research paper about Elephants. She color coded the poster to demonstrate the difference between fact and opinion.

Dude also made a poster about Reptiles. I didn't get a picture of it, but it was awesome as well.

Christmas

It wouldn't be February if I didn't post about Christmas, right? We had a wonderful one. On Christmas Eve Doctor humored me by letting us go caroling at a nursing home. We brought jingle bells and sang to the residents. So fun. After that, we decorated cookies for Santa. Then we came home and made our traditional homemade pizzas. So yummy! After that we reenacted the Christmas story and sang Christmas carols. Christmas morning we got up and saw what Santa brought then headed to church. It was a beautiful meeting. Then we came home and opened presents. We are all super spoiled, thanks to everyone. This is the first year that Dude used his money to buy us a present. He bought it at the school craft fair. It's an open vase with mistletoe in it. Thanks Dude!
