Honey Bunch Goes To School

I've been a blog slacker lately, so this post has been a couple weeks in the making. My darling Honey Bunch started preschool on September 2. Isn't she so cute? I'm amazed at how quickly she became a "big girl." She was so excited to go that she wore her backpack everyday for 2 weeks before school actually started.

Oh, and yes, her shoes are on the wrong feet. Pick your battles, people! :)

First Days

Yesterday was also the first day of school for Princess and Dude. Princess was so ready for Kindergarten. Her teacher told me after school that Princess made sure to let her know that she already knows how to do addition. :)
Dude wasn't as excited about school which is pretty out of character for him. His 1st day of 2nd grade ended well after a rocky start and he was anxious to get back this morning.

Happy Anniversary to Us

Yesterday was our 9th Anniversary. Crazy how time flies. Unfortunately, Doctor is in Buffalo, NY so we celebrated apart. He sent me this beautiful bouquet of roses. The white one represents our marriage, the pink ones represent our children, and there is one red rose for each year of marriage. Isn't he awesome? Happy Anniversary, babe. I miss you.

Look what I did!

Doctor is doing an out rotation so I was horrified when Dude announced that he had a flat tire on his bike. But, to my amazement, I changed a bike tire! Hooray for me. :)

Football!!

Dude had his first flag football game this Saturday. He loves playing, but gets intimidated during the games. He really enjoys the drills and practice, but is shy during the actual games. I told him that during the next game I'll pay him a dollar for every flag he takes off the person holding the ball. Hopefully that will motivate him to get involved. :) Dude is in an orange jersey with black shorts.

First haircut and white shirt pics

Megaman is now 15 months, but since life has been so crazy, we just recently took his birthday pictures in Doctor's white shirt. He's such a character and we had a hard time getting him to hold still long enough to snap a picture. I'm including a picture of the back of his head for a "before" picture since we gave him his 1st haircut after taking these pictures.

This picture sums up the experience.
He wasn't thrilled about taking an "after" photo either, so here's the best we got.

Our new house!

Wow, what a month! Things have been crazy busy, but I finally have a minute to blog. I took these pictures of our house before we moved in and before I had a chance to clean, but you get the idea. I also forgot to take pictures of the outside, so I'll post those later. Another side note, Doctor is a much better photographer than I, so bear with me. Here is a view of the front door. The door closest to the front door is the coat closet and the door across from the basement stairway is the half bath.
Enjoy the worker's hand prints. :) (The board below the mirror is gone now)
Here are the pictures of the entryway/staircase.

The main level is an open floor plan.

Just off the kitchen is the mud room and laundry room, and also the garage. Yes, I have an attached garage! :)

These cabinets now have a 12 inch cabinet in between.

Upstairs there is the master bedroom which I again forgot to take a picture of, but its beautiful! Here's the master bathroom.

And the kids' bathroom.

Here's the girls' bedroom.
And the boy's room.
In the basement we have a family room, bathroom and guest room. We have a tankless water heater (in the cupboard). I'm anxious to find out how well it works.

There you have it! I'm so grateful to be able to call this home!

Kid Comedy

*side note* We went to Boise for a whirlwind vacation and just got back. We had a blast, I'll blog all about it when I'm not so exhausted. Doctor's sister is an incredible photographer and she took our pictures while we were there, thanks!

Anyway, back to the kid comedy! While we were in Boise we went swimming with my parents. When we were leaving, Honey Bunch told us that Grandpa is a "mean old yak." We kept saying, "No, he's not. He's very nice, he even took us swimming today." She would then repeat that he was a "mean old yak." We later realized that my mom had called him a maniac and Honey Bunch apparently misunderstood.

Words of Wisdom

Dude is a thinker. I'm often amazed at the correlations he makes in his daily observations. Here is an example. Poor Dude has small feet. He is constantly teased because of it. He wears the same shoes he wore in kindergarten, and in one case, preschool. Great for the budget, but not great for my poor second grader. He came to me after another child had made fun of his feet and told me how much it hurt him. I tried my best to console him by telling him about an 8th grade teacher of mine who would constantly point out my small feet. He looked up at me and said, "Mom, I've been thinking about this. When I was in kindergarten we planted flower seeds. I chose to plant marigolds. Some of the other kids planted sunflowers. The marigolds started growing first and got really big fast. But, the sunflowers took longer to start growing, but they were the biggest flower in the end. I've decided that I must have Sunflower feet. They're starting slow, but they will be the biggest in the end!" Dude, you are incredible, and will make this world a better place. I'm a lucky mom.

What grade did you say?

Yesterday marked another milestone for our family. Doctor started his first day of 25th grade! He's endured 13 years of public schooling, followed by 5 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and is now a PGY (post graduate year) 3! Only 3 years left. It's a good thing we're enjoying the journey!
Funny side note. Dude and Princess had their last day of summer school on Tuesday. Since they didn't miss any days the school district rewards them with $100 each. Dude is buying a Nintendo DS, and Princess wants an umbrella. :)
