Summer Lovin'

I've seen several blogs lately that have been about husbands and dating and stuff. Reading them has made me miss my amazing husband even more. I'm so excited that he is taking spring break off, and we have a whole week together starting tomorrow night! I'm feeling reminiscent and so I stole this tag from a friends blog.
1. Where did you meet your husband?
We met at Winco (the grocery store) right by the pop-tarts and the Dinty Moore stew. One of his friends came up to us and told us that they were having a contest to see who could get the most girl's phone numbers and if he could have my friend's and mine. I thought that was completely retarded and tried to get away. I did think that Doctor was cute, though. He was very shy and reserved at the store.
2. What was the first thing you said to your husband?
I think it was probably, hi. I knew one of his roommates who was also at the store and he introduced us. I had never met Doctor before, but I had heard ALOT about him. A girl that I knew had told me that they were dating and that he treated her horribly. Every one talked about this poor girl and her horrible boyfriend. Turns out that he went with her to a girl ask guy dance, and that was the extent of their "relationship." Every thing else was made up by the poor girl to get attention. Anyways...his roommate invited my friend and I to a party that night at their house. It was nicknamed "the love shack." Eight guys living in a house right on campus. Can you imagine a more appropriate name? At the time that was the exact kind of place I avoided. I wanted nothing to do with dating, guys, and stupid girls. :) We went anyway, and Doctor came up to me and started asking me questions like, "Did your boyfriend give you that ring?" I answered very rudely, thinking he was dating my friend, "No, I don't have a boyfriend, and I don't want one, thank you." I can't believe after being so rude to him that he ever had any interest in me.
3. Where was your first date?
We went on a group date with all of his roommates to Boondocks and played miniature golf. He never asked me out, though. He just called and said, "So what time am I picking you up tonight?" I said, "I'm sorry, I don't think we had plans." I kept repeatedly turning him down and he refused to get off the phone until I agreed to go. I finally gave in and had a blast! I told my mom that it was the best date I had ever been on.
4. Where was your first kiss?
In my parents basement. We were watching a movie with his friend and his friends date. The friend and his date went upstairs for something and he kissed me. It was amazing!! The sweetest most perfect kiss. It was 2 weeks after we started dating. Then he asked me when the last time I had kissed someone was. I told him a year ago. He got all embarrassed, so I asked him and he said, "three weeks ago." It's hilarious because he really didn't kiss that many girls.

5. Did you have a long/short engagement/courtship?
Pretty short. We met April 8, went on our first date May 25, got engaged June 25, and were married August 19. It was our summer of love. My mom always says, "7 days, 7 months, 7 years, what difference does it make if it's right." So true, so true.
6. Where did you get engaged?
Officially, with the ring, at the Train Depot. Very romantic. He played and sang "I Wanna Grow Old With You" from the Wedding Singer on his guitar. So sweet. Unofficially we argued our way into an engagement at my parent's house. About a week earlier I had jokingly said something about getting married. (I did NOT want to get married) He flew off the handle and told me that I was just another girl looking to get married. We decided that we wouldn't see each other any more. We couldn't do that, and a week later he asked me how long we were going to date before we got married. I was petrified to say anything, and told him I didn't want to get married. Long story short, we decided that night to get married. We couldn't resist each other!
7. Where did you get married?
The Boise Idaho temple. It was a beautiful day.
I'm so grateful to be with such a wonderful man who is so patient with me. I can't believe we have almost been together for 8 years, and are close to having 4 kids! I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished. He works so hard for us. He has taught me about dedication, hard work, priorities, and sacrifice. I'm truly blessed to be his wife. I love you!

Indulgence or Addiction?

So, when MKB tagged me, one of the questions was favorite indulgence. I put sleeping in, which I do really love. However, I've rediscovered my true favorite indulgence which is bordering on addiction. I'm usually pretty good about self-control and portions, especially since my first major weight loss a year and a half ago. But.................I CAN'T CONTROL MYSELF!! I'm in big trouble and I'm turning myself in. What you may ask could cause my inability to stop eating? Hershey's Extra Creamy Milk Chocolate with Toffee and Almonds Nuggets. A long name, but boy oh boy are they good. The girls and I had to pick up some stuff at the store today, and I walked by and they caught my eye, and my pregnant self couldn't help but throw a bag in the cart. I have eaten half the bag already and they have only been in the house for 4 hours. They are so delicious!!! Probably the best thing I have ever eaten. Somebody stop me!! :)

Star of the Week

At Princess' preschool every student gets to be "Star of the Week" sometime during the school year, and this week is Princess' week. They get to bring a poster to be displayed all week, and we had a lot of fun making hers.
The kids in her class got to say what their favorite picture was.
The family gets to come share the fun so Doctor, Honey Bunch and I went to the school yesterday. The class sings to the star student while they walk around the circle. Princess asked if Honey Bunch could walk with her in the circle, it was so cute.

The class is learning about the five senses this week, so Doctor did a little presentation about what he does for a living. When the teacher asked Princess to tell the class what her Daddy does this was the conversation:

Teacher: Will you tell us what your Daddy does?

Princess: This is my Daddy, and he builds things.

Teacher: That's great, what else does he do?

Princess: He works at the hospital a lot.

Teacher: What does he do at the hospital?

Princess: He helps my mommy.

Doctor gave a great presentation about ears, noses and throats and made it clear that you don't put anything in your ears or noses. When we got ready to go they told us that Honey Bunch could stay for the rest of the time. She had a blast! All in all it was a great day.

Beautiful Honey Bunch

I've gotten really behind on things that I want to post, and since I'm mostly healthy again I'm going to try to catch up. We have a family tradition for our children that on their birthday we dress Dude up in one of Doctor's white shirts, and the girls wear my wedding dress and we take pictures. We stole the idea from a good family friend. Anyways....the one's from Honey Bunch's recent birthday are adorable. Here are my favorites.

Still Alive

We are still alive, but barely. We are surviving the flu that never ends. What good are flu shots if you still get the flu? Poor Dude was out of school all week last week due to a relentless fever and Doctor, who rarely gets sick, actually missed 3 days of work. We are on the mend now, and hope to be back to normal soon.

Right before we fell ill, we took the family to see the Peking Acrobats. They were awesome!! If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it. Honey Bunch kept hollering, "Wow!" and Princess kept saying, "How do they do that?" We had to keep reminding Dude that he couldn't replicate the stunts at home. It was a great show and we had a wonderful time. They didn't allow cameras during the performance so Doctor took the picture of us in our seats. I know from the picture it doesn't look like all of us were enjoying ourselves, but really we were. :)

Hey, Did You Hear?

The other day Dude came home and said, "Hey, mom, did you know that Abraham Lincoln died?" Inside I was dying of hysterical laughter thinking, "Oh my gosh, alert the media!" I managed to reply that I did know, but tell me all about it. That I night I began thinking about all the things that grown-ups take for granted. Kids are discovering their world for the first time. I'm so grateful that I get to watch them learn and discover, and be reminded of the little things that I don't take the time to think about. I also think that it is hysterical that Princess loves to talk about King Martin Luther. (All attempts to correct the name are denied) He was such a wonderful king that helped people remember to love each other. I'll make sure to let everyone know if I hear about any other wonderful famous people passing away. :)

Dude keeps me laughing!

So last night we were eating dinner and Dude starting spelling words of things on the table. He spelled cup, dish, spoon, etc. I said, "O.K., I'm going to give you a tricky one." He looked at me, grinned and said, "Bring it on!" He cracks me up! I asked him to spell "fork". He said, "That's an easy one. F-O-R-" He then closed his eyes put his hands up to his head and kept whispering to himself, "C or K? C or K?" He looked up and said, "I'm gonna guess. Is it K?" He was thrilled to be right. I love watching him learn.

Then during scripture study we were reading about Nephi getting the plates from Laban. Dude said, "I love this story! Nephi cuts off Laban's arms and then breaks his bow!" Not quite how the story goes but if you get credit for blending three stories into one then he wins the gold prize.

And if all that weren't enough, when I went to tuck him in last night I noticed that he was wearing regular clothes. I asked why he put on school clothes after the shower instead of p.j.'s. He said, "I'm trying to save time in the morning so I can sleep longer." Pretty creative, he's always thinking.

Fun Saturday

The local Parents-As-Teachers held their annual Winter Activity Day on Saturday. The girls had so much fun. There were tons of activities set up in the gym of the primary school, and wouldn't you know my little Princess (a.k.a. Domestic Goddess) found the cleaning supplies? The first thing she ran to was this mop.

Meanwhile, Honey Bunch found other things to occupy her time.

After about 15 minutes of mopping, rinsing in the play sink, and more mopping, Princess found the dust buster and began cleaning the furniture.

Honey Bunch kept playing.

I finally convinced Princess to try other things.
Thank goodness for fun activities on cold winter Saturdays.
